We are different; each one of us is uniquely created by God for a purpose. That purpose may change as we learn and mature, but we always have one, and it is always God's intent that we live that purpose out in what we do and how we live.
We are bound together in this community we call church by love; God's love for us and our love for Him and one another. We express that love in the way we relate to others in our world. We are bound together by our confident hope of eternal life. We believe that God has made His existence and His nature clear, and we look forward to the time we can live forever in His presence. We are bound together with a common purpose, which is to know the God who created us.
Knowing Him is progressive. It begins when we first realize that He created us in His image for relationship with Him and we turn to Him, receiving the forgiveness we need to live a meaningful life. That knowledge comes to fruition when this life is over and we step into eternity with our Creator, which is really why we were given life to begin with. All along the way, each of us should be growing in our awareness of who He is and who He wants to be in us.
Our knowledge of Him should extend to others knowing Him, too. After all, He is God. He is our Creator, perfect and holy, all-powerful, eternal, and everywhere present, and more. He is much, much more. There is one way to know Him, and that way is through His Son, Jesus Christ.
This community we call church is intended to be a place where we can be real, and where we can find the help and healing we all need to fulfill our God-given potential. We're eager to be the church that God intends; to be a place where each person can find friendship and acceptance; a place where pretense fades away; and a place where we can be loved and accepted as we grow in our relationships with Him and one another. We find significance and life in these relationships.
We are people who believe in the potential of what God can do in our lives and His church. God is doing something special among us and we believe in the journey He has called us on. We would love to hear about what God is doing in your life and we welcome you to come see what God is doing at First Christian.
